20 April 2010
Royal Hunt has signed a deal with Scarlet Records for the European release of its new album, "X". Release date – June 7th, 2010.
19 February 2010
A few words from André about RH´s new album: “It was my first time recording an “all-analogue” project – older instruments, mostly tube outboard, 2” tapes etc… even mixing down to an 1/2” tape machine was a challenge, but a very pleasant one J. There’s certain magic over all that stuff and the way it affects your sound… the “warmth” of the final result is quite seductive. The best way to enjoy this album is – obviously - by listening to it on a vinyl, but even a CD (played on a decent system) will reveal the raw (and yet very sleek somehow) quality of this recording”.
On the songwriting process: “I’ve always been – and always will be – a fan of 70´s songwriting… a bit naïve but yet adventurous. For me it was a lot of fun working on songs with total disregard to contemporary schemes/formulas in rock music… quite a liberating experience, actually. Our set-up – back-to-basics instrumentally, with the limitation of having “only” 24 tracks to record to – forced us to dig deeper for the very essence of each song as well as pushing us to work much harder on arrangements and sounds… I couldn’t be more satisfied with the final result”.
11 January 2010
Royal Hunt extended their contract with Marquee/Avalon Records in order to include their new studio album; set to be released on January 21st, 2010 throughout Japan and SE Asia.
04 January 2010
Royal Hunt have revealed the track listing for their 10th studio album, "X" , due later this year: Episode X (Arrival) – End of the Line – King for a Day – The Well – Army of Slaves – Shadowman – Back to Square One – Blood Red Stars – The Last Leaf – Falling Down – Episode X (Departure). All songs has been written and produced by André Andersen (see details on www.royalhunt.com)
17 September 2009
The band has been invited to play a one hour set at the biggest rock festival in Japan – Loud Park – on October 18th. The show will be filmed and broadcasted by one of Japanese national TV channels.
08 September 2009
Royal Hunt will be playing at ProgPower USA festival in Atlanta, GA on September 11th. Set list will be about 75 minutes long: The Mission – Never Give Up – River of Pain – The First Rock – Message to God – Tears of the Sun – Back to Square One (song from the upcoming album) - Far Away – Last Goodbye – Martial Arts – Epilogue. The entire show will be filmed for eventual later DVD release.
01 September 2009
Once again instrumentals “Martial Arts” and “Triumph” – due to extension of the existing licensing agreements - were certificated as “the most earning tunes in electronic games in Japan”.
14 August 2009
André has extended his 18-years long partnership with Warner/Chappell Publishing for a minimum of three more years.
08 April 2009
Royal Hunt are entering the very final stages of preproduction for their new – tenth since their debut in 1991 - studio album (the actual recordings will start by the end of this month). This time the band decided to revisit their roots and incorporate some of the musical values of the 70´s into their songwriting as well as – in order to reinforce that particular atmosphere - employing mostly “retro” means of production (recording in analogue format exclusively being one of them). Music has been described as “an interesting mix of what’s been tagged as Classic Rock nowadays (established by Kansas, Genesis, ELP´s earlier works and Deep Purple, Uriah Heep´s classics from the same era) and Royal Hunt´s trademark composition/delivery”. The album is expected to be mixed/mastered sometime during this fall.
11 October 2008
André started writing new material for yet another RH album – this time promising “an unexpected but a rather pleasant turn” into some kind of a “retro” direction.
05 October 2008
Keyboard Magazine (Japan) featured an exclusive, 6 pages interview with André (who’s been voted Keyboard Player of the Year no less than three times by readers of Burrn Magazine and other various publications in Japan) covering his long lasting carrier as a member of Royal Hunt as well as a solo artist/producer, gear talk and some tips and tricks from his “playing techniques arsenal”.
12 August 2008
The band has just played the last (as for now) date of their tour
(see tour diary on www.royalhunt.com) which – according to fans as
well as the press - has been one of the most successful ones in
Royal Hunt's history. Almost 2 hours long live set combined equal
portions of both "Paradox" albums plus a bunch of all time classics
from RH's large back catalogue.

Royal Hunt's World Tour starts today in Athens,
Greece (see tour dates and tour diary on www.royalhunt.com) and will
run in a more or less "non stop fashion" through Europe, Asia,
Russia and Scandinavia until August 10th where the band will play
their last show in Odense Arena, Denmark.
30 March 2008
Royal Hunt's entire back catalogue will be re-released this spring
by Marquee/Avalon (Japan/SE Asia) and CD Maximum (Russia/CIS). All
albums (Land of Broken Hearts, Clown in the Mirror, Moving Target,
1996, Paradox, Closing the Chapter, Fear, The Mission, Eyewitness,
Paper Blood) has been re-mastered by André Andersen and Jan Eliasson
at Audio Planet Mastering and completed with bonus tracks (except
for live albums).

|
2 March 2008 André’s been
working for a while on a new project (yep, no rest for the wicked!)
and this time it’s a prime time movie thing for the TV channel
“Rossia” – a 7 episodes police thriller “Gaishniki” – “Road Patrol”
(produced by Yuri Volodarsky/AFL Productions). The amount of music
in this piece is downright astonishing – check it out (should be
aired sometime in May) and find some very familiar “licks” here and
there :-)
24 February 2008
Royal Hunt's new album "Collision Course - Paradox II" has been
released by:
Frontiers Records (Europe), Magna Carta (N.America), Marquee/Avalon
(Japan and SE Asia), CD Maximum (Russia and C.I.S).
Track list: Principles of Paradox, The First Rock, Exit Wound,
Divide and Reign, High Noon at the Battlefield, The Clan, Blood In
Blood Out, Tears of the Sun, Hostile Breed, Chaos A.C.
The album has
been recorded at André's NorthPoint Studio and mixed at Medley/EMI,
Denmark (see studio diary at www.royalhunt.com).

January 2008
It’s been a while since the last
update but… albums don’t make themselves (unfortunately) –
especially Royal Hunt albums - and this new one’s been quite a
challenge.
“As I started writing songs I realized pretty quickly that this
album is going to be rather “large scale” sounding… for whatever
reason. After a bit of soul searching I figured out that it reminded
me quite a bit about “Paradox” - our, probably, most “epic” creation
from 1997. Alright, I wrote the continuation of the lyrical concept,
added some bits and pieces from the prequel and… well, it took me 5
to 6 months to write it all and another 6 months to record; our most
elaborate album to date, no comparison (add to that a few songs
which I wrote/produced – in between RH sessions - for other artists
and you’ll see that I’ve been having a ball with quite a work load
this year :-).
To say that I’m happy with the result is a huge understatement -
it’s a really nice piece of music which everybody in the band can be
proud of”.
20 March 2007
The “mini
tour” is over – the band managed to make it everywhere by planes´n
trains regardless of a snowstorm, which partially paralyzed Kastrup
(Copenhagen airport). “It’s been a hard one” – André smiles – “as
the schedule has been pretty tight. On a blitz tour like this you
can’t sit and relax for a while after the show – there’s another
plane to catch in a few hours, so you better pack your stuff and
start running. But the reactions we’ve been getting from fans make
it all worth while – you’re on stage, watching those smiling faces
all around, feeling their appreciation … It’s the best gift a
musician can get – watching people enjoying his work : immediately,
live, face to face. So I’d like to say thank you to all of you who
made it to the shows, who made me feel so welcome … You are the
reason why I keep on making music, so don’t go away – there’s a lot
more of it coming your way this year!”
20 January 2007
Royal Hunt will be playing the following dates:
Feb 21 (FIN) Helsinki/Nosturi
Feb 22 (DK) Copenhagen/The Rock
Feb 24 (RUS) St.Petersburg/Ice Palace
Feb 24 (RUS) St.Petersburg/Club Roks
Feb 25 (RUS) Moscow/Club Apelsin
14 November 2006
André has extended his 15-year partnership with Warner/Chappell
Publishing for a minimum of four more years.
21 October 2006
“Royal Hunt 2006” DVD/CD will be released from November 22nd 2006 by
following companies : Marquee/Avalon (Japan and SE Asia), Frontiers (Europe)
and Soyuz (Russia).

19 October 2006
The DVD from below mentioned show was edited at “Illusion Films” in
St. Petersburg (yes, André spend a couple of weeks in this beautiful
city, working along with stuff producer Michail Slavsky, who filmed the
show in the first place). “We were lucky to have some cool guys to
operate those cameras the show was filmed by” – André states – “ which
helps you a lot to create an energetic atmosphere on the screen... No
dead angels or unusable shaky segments – 99% of what they filmed were up
to the standard. The show is quite long – two hours – so you need a lot
of “travelling” across the stage to keep it interesting for the
viewer... and not to forget a lot of “close ups” which, as I was told,
fans love so much :-). As far as quality goes – the show was filmed in
“high definition”, so we setteled for a “double layer DVD” format, which
gives you an uncompromised/uncompressed picture/sound all the way... A
tad more expensive but really worth it.” And now to the set-list : Paper
Blood – Time – The Mission – Never Give Up – Can´t Let Go – Last Goodbye
– Follow Me – Cold City Lights – Martial Arts – Surrender – Running Wild
– Far Away – Lies – Wasted Time – Message To God – Epilogue. On top of
that you´ll see a 20+ minutes of “behind the scenes” extravaganza with
comments from every member of the band.
01 October 2006
André spend about a month in his studio mixing Royal Hunts new
double live album : “Actually, the show mixed more or less itself... My
job was – mainly – to clean up eventual noises and other unwanted
artifacts from the tracks, give each instrument its own “space” and try
not to overdo the “fader dance” (in order to preserve the original
dynamics of the show). I must say that guys in the band made the mixing
process extremely easy for me – performances are stellar from each and
everyone (special thanks to Pontus Norgren – our FOH guy – for capturing
our “wall of sound” so clearly on tape)”. Mastering duties were handled
by Jan Eliasson at Audio Planet while cover art were supplied by
Christina Laugesen. The album – titled “Royal Hunt 2006” is due to
release in November 2006 (more info on DVD will follow).
12 February 2006
"3" will be released March 24 2006 by
Frontiers Records worldwide (except Japan - Marquee / Avalon).
06 December 2005
Another pachinko game featuring Andre´s
music will be released by CoMix Wave (Japan) in August 2006. This time
the company picked a true classic – Martial Arts, an instrumental piece
which sold over 100000 copies as a single and has been used in almost
every live-set of Royal Hunt.
25 November 2005
“3” – that´s the name which will be on
the cover of the upcoming album featuring André (keyboards, guitar, bass),
David Readman (vocal) and Paul Laine (vocal), not to forget the troopers
who´s pulled the weight along with them : Kenny Lubcke (backing vocals),
Bjarke Hopen (solo guitar) and Kaj Laege (drums). Here´s the track list
for you : Rise – Dust To Dust – The Way It Goes – Straight To The Heart
– Tell Me Your Lies – Don´t Need A Thing – End Of My Rope – Scared To
Live – Bulletproof – Learning To Fly. We´ll let you know about release
dates – stay tuned!

November 2005
After playing a string of European
dates RH picked the historic stage of Sct.Petersburgs Music Hall to film
their new “live in concert” DVD on. A beautiful old theatre and some
1000+ enthusiastic fans created great atmosphere for this event, which
lasted about 2 hours (the band played a wide selection of songs from all
of their releases since 1991 and some tracks from the latest one – Paper
Blood) and was captured by 6 cameras. Estimated release date is spring
of 2006.
29 August 2005
Pre-production for the upcoming RH tour
started today – the guys got together in the rehersal studio in
Copenhagen, where they´ll spend almost a month working on – according to
André - “the best live-set we´ve ever put together”.
22 July 2005
David Readman (Pink Cream 69) was
chosen as a second vocalist for the below mentioned project and he has
already recorded his tracks for 5 of the new songs which will be mixed/mastered
very shortly.
18 June 2005
ArtMusicGroup invited André for a short
promo visit to Moscow, Russia to talk with the press about RH´s new
release – Paper Blood. A meet-and-greet party for the fans will be
arranged in one of the biggest CD stores in the city - “Sojuz” - on the
25th of June.

07 May 2005
André is back in
the studio to continue working on a project for Frontiers
Records, which started to take shape last year. Five songs were
already recorded in the fall of 2004 (featuring Canadian singer Paul
Laine), so another bunch of tunes should be written in a couple of
weeks.
27 April 2005
CoMix Wave (Japan)
will be releasing their new pachinko game (pachinko
is like combination of a pinball game and a slot game) named
“CR
Keiji Muto”.
The company signed an agreement with Warner Chappell Publishing
which will secure them the rights to include Andre´s
instrumental tune – Triumf – as a part of the soundtrack for the
game.
18 April 2005
Recording of
RH´s new album – Paper Blood – is over. The process which took
almost a year of studio time, countless miles of international
flights, gallons of sweat – blood´n tears and even more gallons of
Jack Daniels is, finally, in the past. During some “pre-“ listening
parties (and the band/management held quite a few in the last couple
of weeks) the reaction from journalists and some – very fortunate –
fans was overwhelming : everybody agreed that this is the most
energetic, inspiring RH release ever! For more info check out
www.royalhunt.com
21 February 2005
Light are still on
´til way pass midnight in the studio. “Well, everybody´s working
pretty hard these days” – says obviously tired but excited producer
– “it´s still hard to grasp how much enthusiasm´s going down those
tracks. John and Marcus (new guitarist) are really up to make it our
strongest release ever, so we´re pushing the envelope every single
day. They also noticed that I´ve been stepping back a little on my
“soloist side” on our latest albums, so on this one I´m just about
everywhere... It will be a blast to play some of this stuff live on
stage!”
07 December 2004
Some of the basic
tracks for RH`s new – yet untitled – album are done. We asked
Andre, while he was toying with his keyboard parts, if he did
anything special/different this time around, as we noticed that his
sound changed a bit since his last work with the band :
“Yes, this time I
went for a more “organic” sound, or should I say “less synthesized”.
Hammond, piano and my old trusty “Beast” became my main axes for
this album, pushing all other synths/samplers out of the picture.
This time it`s about playing – production got stripped down a couple
of notches, but no sacrifices were made in “wow” department – this
thing still sounds huge... just more muscular and focused”.
|
23 October 2004
Andre will be
appearing again as a “guest soloist” on the second release from
Scandinavian rockers Evil Masquerade (www.evilmasquerade.com),
delivering his signature flashy – yet – melodic style lead break on
one of the songs.
12 September 2004
It`s Royal Hunt
time! Andre told us that he was working on a collection of songs for
a future RH release for almost half a year : “I started writing
material sometime around X-mas 2003. It`s been very productive
period of time – no pressure from the record company at all... kind
of unusual situation for me. The music became more focused,
tempos got picked up quiet a bit and some of my “trademark” stuff –
which was pushed back just a tad on the previous album – came out
forward much stronger.
In a way it`s a new era for the band, so I`ll put an extra efford to
make it a great one”.
23 May 2004
Andersen/Laine collaboration is taking shape – both musicians are
pretty busy with recordings. Judging by a few – unpolished yet –
songs we`ve heard so far, the musical direction is waving from
modern rock to traditional AOR/Hard Rock in a very effordless
fashion, showing different aspects of each individual performer.
Fans of both artists will be most definately pleased.
11 March 2004
New project`s on the way – Andre teamed up with Canadian singer Paul
Laine (Danger Danger, Shogaazer). The outcome expected to be a bunch
of highly melodic and rather rockin` songs. Frontiers Records
initialized the project and will be handling distribution worldwide.

19 January 2004
Art Music Group released “OceanView” in Russia.
|
28 September 2003
"OceanView" - Andre`s first contemporary classical piano album -
will be released in Japan and Australia on November 11, 2003 by Wood
Bell Corp.
|
17 August 2003
The HQ of Andre`s operations - North Point Studio - will be
relocated soon. Moving to the more suitable surraundings were long
overdue, and from the beginning of October 2003 the place will see
an addition of a new office for the North Point Productions - a
company, which will be in charge of all Andre`s activities outside
Royal Hunt.
|
|
21 July 2003
Another particular destination of the promo tour - Moscow, Russia.
Andre spend a couple of days there, talkin to journalists and
meeting the fans on the sighning session organized by RH`s new label
in Russia - Art Music Group. Possibilities of establishing a couple
of "master class" keyboard clinics - sometime next year - were
discussed with the local KORG distributers.
|
|
10 May 2003
From 08 June 2003 to 14 June 2003
Andre will be Japan to promote RH`s new release - "Eyewitness". Lots
of interviews, radio/TV appearances and performances/clinics are
already lined up. Also, on request from M&I Promotions (Japan),
he`ll be participating in editing of RH`s new video clip for one of
the tracks from "Eyewitness".
|
|
05 May 2003
Royal Hunt will be playing on both
"Gods Of AOR" festivals - 25 May 2003 in Bradford, UK and 27 May
2003 in Rom, Italy.
For details go to
www.royalhunt.com 02
May 2003
While "Eyewitness" is on its way to
the different record companies around the world (look for details on
www.royalhunt.com), we asked Andre to comment on this new release :
"I think it is a very diverse album - being a concept, build on the
idea of "Headline News - like - thing", so I had an opportunity to
mix and match different musical styles - from acoustic to jazz to
gospel to neoclassical to progressive to nurock - to fit the issue
of each song. At the same time it was a challenge to make them still
sound like RH - with all those elements which our fans are expecting
from us. The result is great - a lot of emotional ups and downs,
plenty of musical variety, some nice - some weird - flow changes
here and there, great musicianship from everybody involved... well,
we`ll see how the reaction will be". |
 |
|
28 January 2003
The songwriting process of the new Royal Hunt album - working
title "Eyewitness" - is almost completed. The actual recording will
start at 10 Feb 2003 and will be carried on in three studios in
Copenhagen : Media Sound, EMI/Medley and Mirand Studio. We got hold
on some of the titles : Edge Of The World, The Prayer, Can`t Let Go
and 5th Element.
|
3 December 2002
"Battle City" - title of the album which Wood Bell Corp.
released today. "Martial Arts 2002" - now renamed as "Hard Crash" -
is the first track on the album |
|
|
8
November 2002
"Martial Arts 2002" was mixed succesfully last week and
now the master tape is on the way to the future production/distribution
in Japan. The original tune became 4 min.3o sec long,
featuring a brand new, atmospheric kind of intro and an
extended keyboard solo - flashy, yet melodic - in the
middle part of the song, not to mention a vast amount of
rearrangements down the line.
We`ll let you know the format in which the song will be
published, as well as the actual date of it`s release.
|
|
18
September 2002
After several requests from Wood Bell Corp., Andre agreed
to produce yet another instrumental track for the company.
Wood Bell`s choice of the producer is understandable,
considering the success of Andre`s two previous works for
this organisation - "Crash" and "Triumph". The about 4
minute long song - working title is "Martial Arts 2002" -
will be used as a theme melody by the Wrestling Federation
of Japan and expected to be released as a single / EP of
some sort in the near future. The actual recording will
start in the end of october.
|
21 August 2002
Through the last couple of weeks Andre`s been working on
some new material for the next Royal Hunt album. "Nothing is
final at this stage" - he states - "just some very rough
ideas, which I`m trying to organize in some sort of order -
just to see if it will make any sense. The basic feel of it
is very diverse - crossing over genres and styles while
still maintaining that typical Royal Hunt vibe. It will take
me another 4 - 5 weeks to figure out some kind of a
structure for the album - until than it`s all fun and
experiments". The album is expected to be released in the
late spring 2003, so there should be enough time to toy
around with ideas. |
17 July
2002
Mixing of the "OceanView" has been completed at Medley/EMI
Studio. After several hours of careful listening, Lars
Overgaard (engineer) and Andre created a very intimate yet
powerful sound, which compliments compositions and the
actual playing perfectly. It creates an illusion of you
being right there, close to the players and their
instruments in a rather large - but not intimidating -
comfortably sounding room.
Majestic Ent.Inc. (management) and Warner Chappell (publishers)
will receive their copies in a couple of days, so they can
secure the album release through one of the record labels in
the near future. |

Lars Overgaard
(Medley/EMI Studio)
|
02 July
2002
The actual recording of Andre's contemporary classical,
piano album "OceanView" took 5 days. The sound of the grand
piano played in a "movie theatre-converted-into-recording
studio" were captured on tape by Lars Overgaard (Andre's all
time favorite engineer) during the first 3 days, while the
last 2 days were used to work with the guest musicians :
Soma Allpas - cello, Eva Vasarhelyi - violin and Rene
Rieland - acoustic guitar. The final track list is :
Horizons - Martial Arts - The Autumn Song (feat.cello) -
OceanView - Heather Waltz - Latin Affair (feat.guitar) -
Third Stage - Arabesque - Hourglass/Time Will Tell (feat.violin)
- Moving Pictures - 1000 Miles Away.
This is probably the most beautiful album Andre's ever
made - true classical but innovative at the same time. This
kind of music, while clearly appealing to the "real
classical listener", could possibly grab the attention of a
dedicated "rock fan" of Andre's - excellent melodies, ever
changing structures and an over-all sans of high quality -
in his piano playing, composing skills, production…An
unexpected, but a very welcomed project, showing Andersen's
diversity - again. |

|
18 June 2002
"Black On Black" - Andre's second solo album - has been released
today in Europe through FRONTIERS RECORDS.
09 June 2002
The Royal Hunt's tour is over - after 30+ shows the band
performed in front of ca. 50 000 people, traveled through Europe
to Japan, Korea to Russia and than some - time to rest? No, it's
time to go back to this piano album. Some bits have to be
re-written, some guest musicians had to be called to, rehearsals
to be planned and studios to be booked. Who needs rest, anyway ?
23 May 2002
Andre's second solo album - "Black On Black" - has been released
in Japan today through MARQUEE Inc.
04 May 2002
An unexpected thing happened - keyboard player of PRETTY
MAIDS (the band which ROYAL HUNT shared some dates of the
tour with - check them out on the www.prettymaids.com ) had
to leave for a short period of time, so Andre was asked to
join PRETTY MAIDS for 4 shows in order to keep them on tour.
ANDRE : "It was nerve wracking. I was learning their entire
1,5 hour set on the tour bus, just listening to their songs
on my Discman - trying to remember the most of it and
writing down notes. Doing soundcheck with PRETTY MAIDS,
quickly smoking a cigarette, than soudcheck with ROYAL HUNT,
back on the bus to listen to their songs a bit more, grab a
sandwich, do a show with ROYAL HUNT, run backstage, have a
drink, run back on stage and do a show with PRETTY MAIDS. I
tell you, by midnight, then it was all over, I was on the
bus sleeping like a baby while both bands were partying to 4
o'clock in the morning. But MAIDS are really nice guys, so
it was a pleasure doing that - even if it was a bit hectic
at times". |

|
23 March 2002
IMPERIAL RECORDS (Japan) announced that they'll release Royal
Hunt's Greatest Hits album by the time the band will hit Japan
in the middle of May, during their "On The Mission 2002" World
Tour.
20 March 2002
This tour will bring ROYAL HUNT to most of Europe, Korea, Japan
and Russia - (see tour dates on www.royalhunt.com). There will
be 12 dates together with another Danish band - PRETTY MAIDS.
The rest - about 20 shows - will be headlined by ROYAL HUNT (incl.
festivals in France and Korea). What about this gig in Russia,
Andre? "Well, I have mixed feelings about that" - he smiles - "the
fans are great, but the general organization in the promoters
camp leaves much to be desired. It's an extremely tough job to
make it all work over there".
11 February 2002
ROYAL HUNT started the pre-productions for their upcoming "On
The Mission 2002"-world tour. Set list is quite long as the show
will run for about 1h 45min and everybody - musicians and crew -
look very exited while trying out songs, discussing the running
order of the show and setting up lights. Andre's keyboard set-up
became as follows : Roland D-50, Hammond XB2, Alesis Q6, Korg
N10EX, Yamaha TG500, E-mu Proteus and E-mu FX. "It's very
flexible"- he states - "so I can make my rig smaller or bigger,
depends on the way we'll travel and the territories we'll travel
to".
23 January 2002
We got hold on some of the titles from Andre's "piano-album-in-the-works"
- Heather Waltz, Moving Pictures and Hourglass. The work is
still in progress and, if you can judge by the bits we've heard
so far, sounds really like classical music - rich, beautiful and
passionate.
16 December 2001
ROYAL HUNT's latest album - "The Watchers" - will be released in
a few days through IMPERIAL RECORDS (Japan), PONY CANYON
(Korea), FRONTIERS (Europe) and CENTURY MEDIA (USA). The album
was produced by Andre in his NORTH POINT STUDIO and includes
some new tracks as well as some live recordings from ROYAL
HUNT's previous tour (details on www.royalhunt.com).
By the way - happy birthday, Andre!

Only a couple weeks after the last "Black On Black" session,
Andre has been seen in the studio again! Here's what he had to
say about it :
"I've always had a dream to record a pure piano album, but never
had the time to do that. Now I have a couple of months off (until
the next ROYAL HUNT tour - spring 2002) to sit down in front of
the piano and work quietly - no drums, no loud guitars, no
singers - something completely opposite to "Black On Black".
I've had some compositions in my head for a while - just bits
and pieces, you know - so let's see how it all will turn out".

The last day of mixing Andre's second solo album - "Black
On Black" - on the very private premises of the legendary
SUN STUDIOS. This album turned out to be a very guitar
driven, no-thrills rock affair with it's roots in the 70's
tradition, but produced and executed by very current
standards. Andre states : "This album is much darker and
heavier than anything else I've ever recorded. Relatively
simple guitar riffs, powerful singing by Ian (Parry) and
some good melodies - that's the primary aspect of this piece.
The lyrics are very personal, kinda describing some of the
situations I've experienced or observed lately - a lot
different from my last concept album with ROYAL HUNT, where
the sci-fi story got put into some kind of a high-tech/sample
driven environment with lots of progressive, complicated
musical parts. "Black On Black" just rocks - end of story". |
